Telangana Govt.steps in to aid lawyers sanctions Rs25 Crores Amid Lockdown; needy Advocates/clerks to get 10k and 5k respectively.

The Telangana Government has come forward to aid the Advocates/Clerks sanctioning an amount of Rs 25 crores to the law department to provide financial assistance to the legal fraternity

Amid COVID-19 pandemic Lockdown. Immediately an Advocate Welfare trust is vested with responsibility to disburse the said amount to the needy Advocates and Advocates’ Clerks, during COVID-19 pandemic.

Immediately the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Justice Raghvendra Singh Chahan today released the financial assistance for eligible Advocates and Clerks via e-payment in the presence of Advocate General, Chairman Bar Council, law Secretary and Registrars of the High Court.

It is further mentioned in the press release that under the guidance of Chief Justice,Telangana Advocates Welfare Trust had Constituted and formulated guidelines to identify the beneficiary for the financial aid.

Chief Justice Advised that an Amount of Rs10k to eachadvocate and amount of Rs.5k to each advocate clerk for is eligible for the same.

Further it is mentioned that lawyers who meet the following conditions shall be considered for the financial assistance:

  1. Active legal practice at Bar.
  2. Ought to have passé all India Bar Examination.
  3. Regular monthly earning not more than Rs.15,000/-
  4. Not receiving any monthly payment from Advocates’ office, where he is working as junior Advocate.
  5. Spouse should not be a Government/Private employee.
  6. Person enrolled as Advocate after retirement from service is not eligible.

The criteria for the advocate Clerks who intends to apply for financial assistance is that applicant has to submit a certificate of registration as a clerk and must not be earning above Rs. 10,000 as monthly income. The spouse of the applicant should not be a Government/Private employee.

The needy advocates have to make applications from Whatsapp and email to the respective Bar Associations and approve applications and forward the same through e-mail to the Telangana Advocates Welfare Trust.

The trust has received a total number of 14,166 applications from Advocates and total number of 1,029 applications from the Advocates’ Clerks seeking financial assistance.
