Supreme Court Collegium Recommends New Chief Justice For 8 Courts, Transfers Of 5 Others

The Supreme Court Collegium has resolved on appointment and transfers of Chief Justices in 13 High Courts.

While five of those are Chief Justices who will transferred from the other courts, eight are puisne judges who will be elevated as Chief Justices.

The decision was taken at the meeting of Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana on September, 16.

The Chief Justices recommended for transfer to other High Court are:

The Eight puisine Judges recommended for appointment to various High Courts as Chief Justices are:

1. Justice Rajesh Bindal -Allahabad

2. Justice Ranjit V. More -Meghalaya

3. Justice Satish Chandra Sharma -Telangana

4. Prakash Srivastava – Calcutta

5. Justice R.V. Malimath -Madhya Pradesh

 6. Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi -Karnataka

7. Justice Aravind Kumar– Gujarat

8. Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra -Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Justices recommended for transfer to other High Courts are:

1.Justice A.A. Kureshi Tripura to Rajasthan

2. Justice Indrajit Mahanty Rajasthan to Tripura

3. Justice Mohammad Rafiq Madhya Pradesh to Himachal Pradesh

4. Justice Biswanath Somadder Meghalaya to Sikkim

5. Justice A.K. Goswami Andhra Pradesh to Chhattisgarh.

 Earlier last month the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended 9 Judges for appointment to Supreme Court. Those recommended action were cleared by central government within a week thereby taking the working strength of the Supreme Court from 24 to 22.
