RJD MP Approaches Supreme Court Over Ayodhya Trust Finances, Demands CBI Investigation
(Judicial Quest News Network)
4, July,2026-Sudhakar Singh, Rashtriya Janata Dal MP representing Buxar, has filed a petition before the Supreme Court asking for an independent inquiry into the finances of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The plea points to recent claims of financial mismanagement, an ongoing Special Investigation Team inquiry, and reports of an unaccounted cash trail worth roughly ₹77 lakh.
Filed on July 3 as a Public Interest Litigation, the petition clarifies that it does not touch upon religious practices or temple rituals in any way.
Its focus is limited to the Trust’s financial governance, seeking greater transparency and accountability in how donations are handled.
Among its main requests, the petition asks that the ongoing probe be handed over from the state police to the CBI, to be carried out under the Supreme Court’s direct oversight.
It also calls for a temporary, court-supervised Oversight Committee made up of retired judges and financial experts to monitor the Trust’s financial dealings while the investigation is pending.
The plea further asks for:
- Preservation of all financial records paper documents, digital ledgers, UPI logs, and bank statements to guard against tampering
- A freeze on major investments, big-ticket contracts, or significant financial decisions by the Trust unless cleared by the proposed Oversight Committee
- An independent forensic audit covering all donations, transactions, and assets
- Publication of audited financial statements and donation records on the Trust’s website, with appropriate safeguards for sensitive donor details
- A full account of every donation received since the Trust’s formation cash, bank transfers, digital payments, foreign contributions, and donations in kind such as gold or silver along with how these have been recorded, stored, and used
As an interim step, the petitioner has asked for ex parte orders setting up the Oversight Committee immediately and barring the Trust from taking major financial or administrative decisions including contracts, investments, asset sales, or key appointments without the Committee’s sign-off, until the probe concludes or the Court directs otherwise.
This latest plea comes days after the Supreme Court declined to fast-track two other similar petitions seeking a court-monitored probe into alleged misuse of Ram Mandir donations.
The case, Sudhakar Singh v. Union of India and Others (Writ Petition (Criminal) Diary No. 39221/2026), has been filed through Advocate Satyam Singh Rajput and Advocate-on-Record Jaswanthi A.
