Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia of Himachal Pradesh High Court Resigns

Justice Chander BHushan Baruwalia of Himachal Pradesh High Court has tendered his resignationfrom the office of the judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court, in pursuance of proviso (a) to clause (1) of Article 217of the Constitution, with effect from November 02, 2022.Last month the Himachal prades government announced the appointment of Mr. Barowalia as the State’s new Lokayukta, a post which was lying vacant for the lasr eight years.
Justice Chander Bhushan Barowalia was born on 15th March, 1961. After doing Matric in 1st Division, he did B.Sc. (Medical) in 1st Division from Government College, Shimla. He obtained L.L.B.Degree from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and thereafter P.G.D.P.M. & L.W. from H.P. University. He practiced as an Advocate from November, 1984 to January, 2003 in H.P High Court and other Courts in Shimla.
He practiced in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Revenue, Consumer & Service maters and aslo co-Authored commentary on H.P Panchayat Raj Act. He remainde unanimousely elected Vice-President of the H.P High Court Bar Association for two terms continuously. He also remained on the panel of B.S.N.L., H.R.T.C., Employees Provident Fund Organization, United India Insurance Company, Agro Industries Corportaion, Punjab National Bank & represented other government organizations as well.
On his aappointement, as Additional District and Sessions Judge on 10th January, 2003, remained posted as Officer-on-Special Duty in the H.P High Court, Addl.District and Session Judge (II), Kangra at Dharamshala, Addl. District and Session Judge (I),Kangra at Dharamshala and thereafter as District and Session Judge, Kinnaur at Rampur BHushar, President, District Consumer Disputes rtedressal Forum for Kangra & Chamba District at DharamShala, District and Session Judge, Una, District and Session judge, Solan, District and Session Judge Mandi,Registrar (Judicial), H.P Court Shimla, Director, H.P Judicial Academy, Shimla and thereafter remained posted as registrar General, High Court of H.P., Shimla till elevation as Additional Judge of High Court of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, on 12th April 2016.
