Three Years Imprisonment to Then Director (Telecom) And A Private Person in A CBI Case

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) has sentenced Sh. D.P. Srivastava, then Director (North Area), Telecom, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) to undergo three years Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 70,000/- and Sh. Pradeep Godhwani, partner of M/s Grand Timber Industries, Paharganj, New Delhi to undergo three years Imprisonment with fine of Rs.50,000/-.

CBI had registered a case against Sh. D.P. Srivastava, the then Director (North Area), Telecom, Bareilly (U.P.) and others including M/s Grand Timber Industries, Paharganj, New Delhi. It was alleged that Sh. D.P. Srivastava, while functioning as Director (North Area), Telecom, Bareilly (U.P.) during the year 1987, entered into a conspiracy in connivance with Sh. Pradeep Godhwani, partner of M/s Grand Timber Industries & others and placed two purchase orders at exorbitant rate/price on the basis of forged tender memo with the intention to cheat Govt. of India to the tune of Rs. 44,43,945/- (approx.).

After investigation, a chargesheet was filed in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Lucknow against the accused. After trial, the Court found both the accused guilty and convicted them.
