Supreme Court All Set to Launch ‘Advocates Appearance Portal ‘an Environment-Friendly Step: CJI D.Y.Chandrachud

In a significant development Supreme Court India on Friday, under the directions of the CJI D.Y.Chandrachud has announced to launch a new ‘Advocate Appearance Portal’ on January 1, 2023.
This on-line portal, through which the advocates can record their appearance.This portal, will do away with manual filing of appearance slips and is a step taken towards making the registry paperless.
Advocate Appearance Portal has been designed and developed for bringing speed, accuracy and efficacy for recording the appearance of the Advocates in the Record of Proceedings.
The Advocates on Record may certify the appearance of Advocates in a matter and send the appearance slip through this portal.
The existing process for Appearance Slip is cumbersome. The Appearance Slip is received through Advocates directly in the court or through email on the day of the case is listed and verification of the AOR is done manually in the existing process. Besides, names of Sr. Advocates and Advocates are typed manually in Record of Proceedings.
The AOR will not have access to their matters appearing in cause list of particular dayand may mention appearances in the matter.The appearance slip will be received online throught the Advocate Appearance Portal and the timeof login, verification of the AOR is to bedone by software through One Time Password (OTP).
This is a environment-friendly step through which approximate 2, 00,000 (Two Lakhs0 papers per annum, will be saved.
The portal will be functional w.e.f 1st of Jan 2023
