Priyanka Chaturvedi Quits as Anchor of Sansad TV Show Over MP’s Suspension

Shive Sena’s MP in Rajya Sabha, Priyanka Chaturvedi resigned from her position as anchor for the show “Meri Kahani “on the parliament’s broadcast platform “Sansad TV” on Sunday stating that she was doing so with “deep anguish”
She expressed her discontent on suspension from the Upper House saying that it is something which “has never happened in parliament history”
She said that it is with great anguish but with a sense of reasonability and having thought through this, I wish to inform you that I would like to step down as an anchor for sansad TVs show Meri Kahani.
The suspension came after Union Minister of Parliamentary affairs Pralhad Joshi earlier wrote a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu, who is the Vice-President, for shocking violence on the last day of the Monsson Session.
The action has been taken against them for the indiscipline in the Monsson session of the House.
Resigning from Sansad TV which among public affairs show also broadcasts programming of the two houses of Parliament.
She said that “When today highest number of women MPs have been suspended for an entire session in recorded history of Rajya Sabha then I need to speak up for them,”
She further said that “I must thank Sansad TV team for having worked with me and making it an enriching experience for me, I am certain they will also understand the reason for my inability to see entire commitment of getting share their story through a platform they truly deserved to have and which helped them share their trials and tribulations to reach the Parliament. I look back at having discharged my duty in that role also with as much sincerity as that of a Parliamentarian.
The suspended MPs are Elamaram Kareem(CPM),Phulo Devi Netam, R.Bora, Rajmani Patel, Syed Nassir Hussain and Akhilesh Prasad Singhof the Congress, Binoy Viswam of CPI, Dola Sen and Shanta Chhetri of Trinamool Congress, Priyanka Chaturvedi and Anil Desai of Shive Sena
