Mumbai, August 29: Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, the joint Vice-Presidential candidate of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), visited the residences of two key opposition leaders in Mumbai on Thursday to seek their support.

The former Supreme Court judge first called on Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence, Matoshri, where he was accorded a warm reception by the Thackeray family and senior party functionaries. Justice Reddy’s visit holds significance as the Shiv Sena (UBT) is one of the principal constituents of the INDIA bloc, and Uddhav Thackeray’s endorsement is expected to consolidate support from regional allies.
Later in the evening, Justice Reddy also met Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) founder Sharad Pawar at his Mumbai residence. The veteran leader, who has been instrumental in stitching together the opposition coalition, reportedly assured full backing to the INDIA bloc’s nominee.
Justice Reddy, known for his impeccable judicial record and strong constitutional grounding, has been projected by the opposition alliance as a candidate who symbolizes judicial integrity and democratic values. His candidature, according to INDIA bloc leaders, is aimed at bringing “moral gravitas” to the Vice-Presidential election.

The meetings in Mumbai are part of Justice Reddy’s broader outreach strategy, as he engages with leaders across states to rally support for his candidacy ahead of the high-stakes election.
The vice-Presidential poll necessitated by the sudden resignation of Jagdeep Dhankar recently has been described by opposition as an ideological battle. Even as the members are stacked in favour of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA)
