Crackdown on Serial Burglars: Bowenpally Police Arrests Two Habitual Offenders, Recover Stolen Property Worth Rs. 4.6 Lakhs

Hyderabad, January 22, 2025 – In a major breakthrough, the Bowenpally Police have arrested two notorious burglars involved in a series of house thefts across the area. The operation, which follows a thorough investigation into burglaries registered under Crime Nos. 23/2025 and 29/2025, has led to the recovery of stolen property valued at Rs. 4.6 Lakhs.

The accused, identified as Gjen @ Nagapalla Kishore Kumar, a 21-year-old driver from Shapur Nagar, and Chithari Bharath @ Baathu, a 21-year-old labourer from Old Bowenpally, were apprehended after a meticulous probe into multiple house break-ins. Their modus operandi involved targeting isolated houses at night, breaking open doors, and making off with valuable possessions.

Recovered Stolen Property:

  • From Cr. No 23/2025:
    • Silver ornaments
    • Two Titan watches
    • One Provogue watch
    • Two mobile phones
  • From Cr. No 29/2025:
    • Two Canon cameras with lenses
    • One Honda Activa scooter

The total value of the recovered items stands at Rs. 4,60,000.

Previous Criminal History:

  • A-1 (Kishore Kumar) has a criminal background with prior involvement in multiple burglary cases under PS Jeedimetla and in Yadik PS, Anantapur, A.P.
  • A-2 (Bharath) has also been linked to several criminal activities, including house break-ins and a snatching case in the limits of Bowenpally and Begumpet.

Operation Details:

The arrest was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Sri. D. Tulja Ram, DSI, Sri. V. Sardar Naik, DI, and the Bowenpally crime staff, under the supervision of Sri. B. Lakshmi Narayana Reddy, SHO. The team reviewed over 150 CCTV footage, a task that was meticulously managed under the guidance of Sri. P. Gopala Krishna Murthy, ACP, Sri. P. Ashok, Addl. DCP, and DCP North Zone. Their combined efforts have been highly praised, and proposals for rewards are being forwarded to the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad.

Public Safety Advisory:

The North Zone Police urge citizens to remain vigilant by ensuring their homes are securely locked, keeping a light on to create the illusion of occupancy, and coordinating with neighbors. They also recommend installing security alarms or CCTV systems and monitoring any unusual activity in the area.

Ms. S. Rashmi Perumal, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Zone, Hyderabad, commended the efforts of the police team and reiterated the importance of public cooperation in enhancing community safety.
