CBI Mourns the Passing of Former Director Shri Vijay Shankar

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is deeply saddened by the passing of its former Director, Shri Vijay Shankar. The agency expresses its heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and prays for the strength and courage needed to endure this immense loss during this difficult time.
Shri Praveen Sood, the current Director of CBI, conveyed the condolences of the entire CBI family, acknowledging Shri Vijay Shankar’s remarkable contributions. He said, “He will be remembered not only for his exceptional service to the CBI but also for his significant impact on humanity.”
As per Shri Vijay Shankar’s personal wishes, his family has donated his body for medical research at AIIMS.
Shri Vijay Shankar, a 1969 batch IPS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, served as the Director of CBI from December 12, 2005, to July 31, 2008. He also held the position of Additional Director within the organization. His legacy of dedication and service will continue to inspire.
