BCI Urges Chief Justice of India to Consider Elevation of Judges From Unprecedented States

In an unprecedented manner the bar Council of India has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India Justice UU Lalit to consider elevation of judges from those High Courts and States that are unprecedented in the Supreme Court.

The Chairman of the bar Council of India Senior Advocate Manan Kumar Mishra has urged CJI and other judges of the Supreme Court Collegium to consider the elevation of of judges to Supreme Court from some bigger states having vast population of the country which are unprecedented in the Supreme Court for the last several months.

It is also mentioned in the letter that Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju also appeared to be very “positive and practical in this issue “when the same was discussed with him.

The letter states that “Therefore it is our humble request to take into account this important aspect of the matter in course of the meetingof the Collegium”
