Senior Advocate Aman Lekhi Tenders Resignation As Additional Solicitor General

Senior Advocate Aman Lekhi on Friday, 04, March tendered his resignation as Additional Solicitor General of India (ASG) of India.

In a two-line letter addressed to the Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju he said that he is tendering his resignation from the post of Additional Solicitor General of India at the Supreme Court with immediate effect.

He was appointed as the ASG on 05-03-2018 and was re-appointed with effect from 01-07-2020 for a period of three years till 30-06-2023.

As the ASG Mr. Lekhi has appeared in many high-profile cases before the Supreme Court as well as Many High Courts, including coal block allocation scam and 2G spectrum allocation scam and Common Wealth Games (CWG) scam case.

He has also represented Ashish Nandi in a case that involved controversy regarding the letter’s alleged anti-Dalit remarks at a Jaipur Literature Festival in 2013.

He had also appeared in the case involving Zee network case involving Naven Jindal and another case concerning the recommendations by Justice Majithia regarding working Journalists and non-Journalists and challenge to working Journalist Act. 1955.

Mr. Lekhi is the son of renowned Supreme Court Lawyer Pran Nath Lekhi.He is married to BJP Member of Parliament from New Delhi Constituency. Meenakshi Lekhi also a lawyer is presently a minister of State (MoS) for external affairs and culture of India.

Mr.Lekhi also appeared in various important criminal matters in the Supreme Court.
