In a dramatic development in the ongoing dispute over the ₹30,000-crore estate of late businessman Sanjay Kapoor, Bollywood actor Karishma Kapoor’s two children have approached the Delhi High Court seeking a share in their father’s assets. The siblings have accused their stepmother, Priya Kapoor, of forging Sanjay Kapoor’s will in an attempt to gain total control of the vast property.
The siblings have alleged that their stepmother, Priya Kapur—Sunjay Kapur’s third wife—engaged in forgery by fabricating their late father’s will in an attempt to seize complete control over his vast estate.
Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor and businessman Sunjay Kapoor’s 13-year marriage, which began in 2003, came to an end with their divorce in 2016. The former couple, who were often in the spotlight, have two children — a daughter and a son.
In a twist worthy of a Bollywood courtroom saga, Karisma Kapoor’s children—represented by the actress herself—have approached the Delhi High Court, alleging they’ve been unjustly cut out of their late father Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000 crore estate. The siblings claim that Priya Kapur, Sunjay’s third wife, sidelined them from the inheritance following his sudden and tragic death in June while he was in the United Kingdom.
The lawsuit officially identifies Priya Kapur as a defendant, along with her minor son. In addition to them, the suit also names the boy’s mother, Rani Kapur, as a defendant. Furthermore, the case includes Shardha Suri Marwah, who is alleged to be the executor of the will, as one of the defendants.
At the heart of the legal battle is a contentious will dated March 21, 2025, which reportedly bequeaths the entirety of Sunjay Kapur’s personal estate to his third wife, Priya Kapur—a move now under scrutiny amid allegations of forgery and exclusion of other legal heirs.
The children have alleged that, in a calculated plan, the defendants conspired with two associates, namely the stepmother, Dinesh Agarwal, and Nitin Sharma, to suppress the existence of the will for a period exceeding seven weeks, only to disclose it subsequently at a family meeting held on July 30, 2025.
The children says that the will has been forged and fabricated.
“The Alleged Purported Will emerged in suspicious circumstances, given that it was revealed several months later, allegedly from the possession of individuals close to Defendant No. 1. It has later been revealed that the said individuals had also been rewarded with positions in a Company.”
The Suit contends that “the Alleged Purported Will emerged in suspicious circumstances, given that it was revealed several months later, allegedly from the possession of individuals close to Defendant No. 1. It has later been revealed that the said individuals had also been rewarded with positions in a Company.”
The suit contends that Priya Kapur’s actions reflect an intent to unlawfully appropriate complete control over Sunjay Kapur’s estate, thereby seeking to deny the rightful claims of the other legal heirs.
The plaintiffs have petitioned the Hon’ble Delhi High Court to declare them as Class I legal heirs and have further sought a decree of partition directing the division of their late father’s estate, thereby entitling each to a one-fifth share therein.
For an interim relief they have sought freezing of all personal assets belonging to Sunjay Kapoor until the matter is resolved
The suit has been filed by Shantanu Aggarwal for Lexstar Law LLP and Madhulika Rai Sharma
