To mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) regional offices in Hyderabad, including the Regional Passport Office and MEA Branch Secretariat, organized a special exhibition focused on Art & Calligraphy in the Constitution.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, the Hon’ble Governor of Telangana, on January 24, 2025. This date holds special significance, as it commemorates the moment in 1950 when the original handwritten Indian Constitution was signed by 284 members of the Constituent Assembly.
The Constitution of India, while serving as the cornerstone of the country’s legal framework, is also a work of profound artistic value. The exhibition highlights the intricate calligraphy and artistic elements embedded in the Constitution, which reflect India’s rich and diverse cultural, socio-political, spiritual, and geographical landscape. It serves as a powerful symbol of India’s “Unity in Diversity,” drawing from the country’s ancient heritage while envisioning a future of progress and equality.
In a related tribute to the Constitution’s legacy, the Regional Passport Office in Hyderabad had earlier unveiled a special edition envelope inspired by the Constitution’s design. This envelope is now being used for passport dispatches, further honoring the enduring significance of the Constitution.
The inaugural event was attended by Mrs. J. Snehaja, IFS, Head of the MEA Branch Secretariat and Regional Passport Officer, along with former Indian Ambassadors and Smt. Shruti Patil, Additional Director General of PIB & CBC.
The exhibition will be open throughout the year at the RPO Hyderabad office, as part of the ongoing celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution’s adoption.
