95 Young Voices, One Human Rights Mission: NHRC Internship Concludes with Call To “Preach, Practice & Perform”

New Delhi: September,25- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India, has concluded its two-week Online Short-Term Internship Programme (OSTI) for September 2026, with 95 university students from diverse academic backgrounds completing the programme after being shortlisted from 1,008 applicants across 19 States and Union Territories.
Chairing the valedictory session, NHRC Member Justice (Dr.) Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi urged the interns to translate human-rights learning into everyday conduct, stressing the principle of “Preach, Practice and Perform.” He called upon them to uphold compassion, particularly towards senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
NHRC Member Smt. Vijaya Bharathi Sayani described the internship as the beginning of a new responsibility, urging the students to make human rights, constitutional values, dignity and justice a way of life and become ambassadors of human rights in their communities.
NHRC Secretary General Shri Piyush Goyal called upon the interns to become “torch bearers of human rights,” emphasising that academic knowledge acquires real meaning only when translated into practice and public awareness.
NHRC Joint Secretary Samir Kumar highlighted the interns’ interaction with NHRC Members, senior officers, experts, academicians and civil-society representatives, while winners of various competitions conducted during the programme were also announced.
The internship commenced on 14 September 2026, providing the selected students an intensive exposure to the institutional and practical dimensions of human rights protection in India.
