Hyderabad, July 23, 2025: Acting on credible intelligence, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) apprehended two Nigerian nationals suspected of involvement in drug peddling and illegal residency. The individuals — identified as Aful Clement alias Aful David (29) and Lazarus Chinwenmeri Favour (19) — were taken into custody within the limits of Tolichowki Police Station.

According to police sources, Clement, who initially entered India on a business visa to export clothing, was previously arrested in 2022 by Minimajra Police in Chandigarh for his alleged role in a cheating case and served six months in Model Jail. Post-release, he stayed in Delhi without any reported employment. His visa reportedly expired in 2019, making his current stay unlawful.

Favour, who arrived in India on a student visa for academic pursuits in science and technology, allegedly deviated from his education and became associated with known drug offenders.

In July 2025, the duo allegedly travelled to Bengaluru and later arrived in Hyderabad, where they were spotted moving suspiciously. H-NEW officers questioned and searched the individuals — no drugs were recovered, but documentation checks revealed irregularities. Clement was found to be overstaying without valid visa credentials, while Favour held a valid visa until October 2025.

Given their alleged involvement in drug-related activities and overstaying, H-NEW has coordinated with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) to expedite deportation procedures.

Public Advisory Issued

In light of rising drug abuse linked to overstaying foreign nationals, the police issued an appeal urging vigilance. Authorities called upon parents to monitor their children’s activities and report any suspicious behaviour. Citizens with information related to drug abuse are encouraged to contact the H-NEW team at 8712661601.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP Y.V.S. Sudheendra, led by Inspector S. Bala Swamy, SI B. Manoj Kumar, and the dedicated H-NEW staff.
