This move awaits approval from the Union Government, after which Justice Singh will officially assume his new role as the seventh Chief Justice of Telangana High Court.

The Telangana High Court, which was established on January 1, 2019, has seen a succession of Chief Justices, with Alok Aaradhe, the sixth Chief Justice, recently transferred to the Bombay High Court in January 2025. Following his departure, Justice Sujoy Paul was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice until a permanent successor was named.

Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, a distinguished legal professional, brings extensive experience to the Telangana judiciary. Having earned his BA Honours and LLB degrees from the University of Delhi, he began his legal career at the Patna High Court in 1990 before transitioning to the Jharkhand High Court in 2001 to further his legal practice.

In 2012, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jharkhand High Court, and two years later, he was elevated to a Permanent Judge. After serving as Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court for nearly three months, he was officially appointed as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court on April 17, 2023.

His impending transfer marks another pivotal development in India’s judicial landscape, reinforcing the Supreme Court’s commitment to maintaining an effective judicial structure across the country.
