Toshiba to Invest ₹562 Cr in Telangana’s Power Transmission Sector

Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TTDI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, Japan, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Government of Telangana to accelerate innovation and investment in the Power Transmission and Distribution (T&D) sector.
At a high-level investment meeting held today, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed between Mr.Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana, and Mr. Hiroshi Furuta, Chairman and Managing Director of TTDI. The signing took place in the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr.Revanth Reddy, and Mr. Hiroshi Kaneta, Director, Energy Business, Toshiba Corporation.
Under the terms of the MoU, TTDI will establish a new manufacturing facility for Surge Arresters and expand its existing manufacturing units for Power Transformers, Distribution Transformers, and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) at its Rudraram facility near Hyderabad, Telangana.
Major Investment to Strengthen India’s Power Infrastructure
With a planned investment of ₹562 crore, this initiative represents TTDI’s continued commitment to developing cutting-edge solutions that serve both conventional and renewable energy needs. The expansion aligns with India’s “Make in India” initiative and is expected to contribute significantly to strengthening the power sector, boosting local manufacturing capabilities, and generating employment in the region.

TTDI’s new facility and the expansion of existing units are designed to support high-voltage applications, serving both domestic and global markets. With three new facilities planned alongside major upgrades to current infrastructure, TTDI is positioning Telangana as a global manufacturing hub for power sector products within the Toshiba group.
