Telangana Raj Bhavan Celebrates Foundation Day of Eight States & Five Union Territories in Grand Ceremony

On November 1, 2024, Telangana Raj Bhavan hosted a vibrant celebration marking the Foundation Day of eight states and five Union Territories, as part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative. The event took place at Samskruthi Hall in Hyderabad and was graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, who served as the Chief Guest.

This date is significant nationwide, honouring the establishment of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu, alongside the Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.

Governor Varma extended heartfelt greetings to the citizens of these states and territories, praising the cultural and student exchange programs fostered by Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. He emphasized the unifying power of music and dance in bridging cultural divides and promoting national integration, commending the artists for their captivating performances that enhanced the festivities.

In his address, the Governor remarked, “This initiative has created a beautiful confluence of cultures and traditions, furthering our unity as a nation.”

Attendees enjoyed a delectable array of dishes representing the diverse culinary heritage of the eight states and five Union Territories, showcasing their unique Flavors.

The cultural program featured an exciting lineup of performances, including:

  • Andhra Pradesh: Kuchipudi dance by Padmasri Padmaja Reddy and troupe
  • Kerala: Thiruvathira and Mohiniyattam
  • Haryana: Haryanvi folk dance
  • Karnataka: Gadag Kala Tanda folk dance
  • Punjab: Bhangra and traditional martial arts
  • Tamil Nadu: Veena recital by Kumari Keerthivasini, along with Bharatanatyam performances by Baby S. Sai Sahasra Vani and Kumari R. Sri Rakshitha

The celebration was attended by distinguished guests, including Principal Secretary to the Governor Shri B. Venkatesham, IPS (Retd.) Smt. Tejdeep Kaur Menon, Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS MD TGRTC, Joint Secretary Shri J. Bhavani Shankar, along with senior officials from Raj Bhavan and delegates from the participating states and Union Territories.
