Delhi,20, December,2025 -The Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, in exercise of his authority, has deemed it necessary to constitute a Special Vacation Bench for the purpose of addressing matters of an urgent nature during the ongoing court recess. This Bench, composed of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Joymalya Bagchi, has been scheduled to assemble on Monday, the 22nd of December, 2025. On that day, the Bench shall take up for consideration those cases which, by reason of their immediacy and gravity, cannot be deferred until the regular sittings of the Court resume.

The arrangement of such a sitting underscores the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring that the course of justice is not hindered by procedural intervals or the calendar of recess. It reflects the principle that urgent matters, particularly those requiring immediate judicial intervention, must be afforded timely adjudication so that the rights of parties are not prejudiced by delay. By convening during the vacation period, the Court demonstrates its vigilance in safeguarding access to justice and its readiness to respond to pressing circumstances that demand swift resolution.

This special sitting, therefore, stands as a testament to the enduring responsibility of the Court to uphold the rule of law, even in times traditionally reserved for recess, thereby ensuring that justice remains uninterrupted and responsive to the needs of the moment.
