Supreme Court Confers Senior Designation On 51 Retired High Court Judges

The Supreme Court of India has designated 51 former Chief Justices/Judges of High Court, as Senior Advocates.

The Committee for designation of Senior Advocates has designated 51 former Chief Justices/Judges of the High Courts after a Full Court meeting held on 20,2022.

The conferment letter says that under section 16 (2) of the Advocates Ac, 1961 read with Rule 2(a) of Order 1V, Supreme Court Rules,2013 and Supreme Court Guide Lines to Regulate Conferment of Designation of Senior Advocates,2018 framed in terms of the Judgment dated 12th October,2017 passed in the case of Ms. Indira Jai Singh Vs. Supreme Court of India through Secretary   General and Ors.

Hon’ble Chief Justice of India and Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court in the full court meeting held on Friday, May 20, have designated former Chief Justices and Judges of the High Court, whose relevant particulars are given hereunder, as Senior Advocates, with effect from May, 20,2022.

Delhi High Court tops the list with 10 designations followed by Bombay High Court with 8 and Punjab and Haryana with 7.
