Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Three Additional Judges of Guwahati High Court Be Made Permanent

The Supreme Court collegium has issued a statement recommending that three additional judges of the Guwahati High Court High Court should be made permanent.
Three Additional judges are:
- Justice Soumitra Saikia
- Justice Parthivijyoti Saika, and
- Justice S.Hukato Swu.
A.Justice Soumitra Saikia obtained his LLB degree from J.B. Law College under the Gauhati University in the year 1995. He started his practice after being admitted to be an Advocate of the Bar Council of the Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim on 20th September 1995. He practiced in revenue & taxation matters, labour and service matters, corporate matters, arbitration and contract matters. He also appeared in a few civil and criminal appeals before the High Court. He appeared in several important matters and represented various Public Sector Enterprises in several matters. He also represented various departments under the Government of Assam like PWD, Secondary Education, Finance & Taxation, Agriculture Marketing Board to name a few, as well as the AICTE as its standing counsel for a few years. He was the Senior Standing Counsel for the Income Tax Department for several years for the Gauhati High Court. He was appointed as an Additional Advocate General for the State of Arunachal Pradesh in August 2016 and which he continued to be till his elevation. He was also appointed as Secretary of the Indian Law Institute (ILI) Assam Chapter. He was elevated to the Bench as an Additional Judge on 26.11.2019.
B. Justice Parthivijyoti Saika, Son of Sri Purna Chandra Saikia, retired District and Sessions Judge. He was born on 18.04.1965. He had completed his school at Guwahati and thereafter completed his education at Nagaon. He has joined Assam Judicial Service in the year 1992. Worked as District and Sessions Judge since September, 2011, in between, he had also held the position of Member Secretary, Assam State Legal Service Authority. Elevated as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 26.11.2019. At the time of elevation, he was working as District and Sessions Judge, Tinsukia.
C. Justice S.Hukato Swu., son of Late Scato Swu, Born at Satakha on 01.01.1960. Did his schooling from Goalpara Sainik School Assam, did his college from St. Anthony’s College Shillong, obtained LLB Degree in 1986 from Delhi University Campus Law Centre- I, Delhi.
Appointed as Assistant Public Prosecutor cum Government Pleader in 1986. Appointed as Magistrate 1st Class cum Civil Judge Junior in 1990. Later promoted on 2003 as ADC (Judicial). Appointed as DC (Judicial) in 2004.
Served as Member Secretary NSLSA, Special Judge Anti – Corruption, TDP Vigilance, Election Tribunal (Municipal), Member MACT, Special Judge CBI, Special Judge NIA, President Consumer Redresal Forum and Principal Judge Family Court.
Was serving as Principal District & Sessions Judge till his elevation on 26.11.2019 as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court.
