- Multiple fake rubber stamps (Revenue Division Offices, Chief Reception Officer)
- Canon Colour Printer
- Dell Laptop
- 200+ Fake 2BHK Allotment Letters
- 8 Fake requisition letters for 2BHK houses
- 4 Mobile Phones
The Scam:
The prime accused, M. Jyothi and P. Sunil Singh, had been deceiving the public under the guise of helping them obtain 2BHK housing through the Telangana Government’s Dignity Housing scheme. They built trust in the community by assisting with Caste Certificates, Income Certificates, and other documentation, only to exploit that rapport for financial gain.
Over two years, they collected ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 per applicant, promising government housing in localities such as Hi-Tech City, Tatti Annaram, and Kollure. To build trust, they took victims to various Government offices, including MRO, GHMC, and Collector Offices. As the applicants grew impatient, Jyothi and Sunil Singh began fabricating fake allotment letters using counterfeit rubber stamps from various government bodies.
M. Jyothi has a previous criminal history, including a similar offence in 2020, where she was involved in the Jubilee Hills PS case (Cr. No. 85/2020) related to the same scam.
Action Taken:
The authorities acted swiftly on a tip-off and arrested the accused. The seized items, along with the arrested individuals, were handed over to the Chatri Naka Police for further investigation, who have now registered a case under multiple sections of IPC (420, 468, 471, 472, r/w 34).
The Telangana Government has emphasized the importance of avoiding brokers and mediators in the housing allotment process, urging the public to rely only on official channels.
This operation was carried out under the supervision of S. Raghavendra, Inspector of Police, South Zone, and K. Nagendra Prasad Varma, Inspector of Police, Chatri Naka PS, with the support of Task Force and Chatri Naka Police personnel.
