Sherlyn Chopra Porn Video Case: SC Grants Interim Protection From Arrest to Actress Sherlyn Chopra
(Judicial Quest News Network)
The Supreme Court on Friday granted interim protection from arrest to actress, Sherlyn Chopra in a porn video case in which Raj Kundra and model Poonam Pandey are others accused.
The SC has issued notice and granted stay of arrest – this order similar to earlier orders granted to Raj Kundra and Poonam Pandey in the same FIR (porn video case) by the same bench of the SC
A Bench of Justices Vineet Saran and Anirudh Bose issued notice on the appeal filed by Chopra against Bombay High Court Order which had declined her plea for anticipatory bail.
Advocate Sunil Fernandes, appearing for Sherlyn, had argued and said that other accused in the case have also been given protection from arrest.
Sherlyn is an accused along with actress Poonam Pandey in an FIR related to the porn case. The Supreme Court had on January 18 granted the protection from arrest to Poonam Pandey.
Advocate Fernandes further argued that Sherlyn was on ad-interim bail for almost nine months and there has not been a single instance where she tried to abuse the concession of ad-interim bail granted to her earlier.
The plea said the only allegation against Sherlyn Chopra herein in the FIR is that she allegedly acted in obscene video clips which are made available on certain websites.
