Sessions Court Delivers Verdict in Domestic Homicide; Accused Convicted for Strangling Wife

Hyderabad, October,7,2025 — A woman in Hyderabad sustained serious injuries after allegedly being beaten by her Husband, Santosh, in a reported case of domestic violence and attempted murder, police said.
The complainant, Sundar, stated that his sister Surekha, married to Santosh about 20 to 25 years ago, had moved with her family from Humnabad Taluk, Bidar District, to Hyderabad two years ago for livelihood. Surekha, employed as a housekeeper alongside her husband’s wife, was reportedly subjected to daily mental and physical harassment by Santosh, who allegedly consumed alcohol regularly and did not work.
On May 15, 2022, at approximately 9:00 PM, Santosh reportedly arrived home intoxicated and brutally assaulted Surekha. The victim informed Sundar of the attack that night. The following morning, Sundar’s wife found Surekha crying and shouting for help. Upon visiting her, Sundar observed bleeding injuries on her lips, ears, chest, knees, and strangulation marks around her neck. She was immediately taken to Gandhi Hospital for medical treatment.
During police inquiry, it was also revealed that the accused allegedly stole gold jewellery, including a necklace and earrings, from the victim before fleeing the scene. Sundar has requested urgent legal action against Santosh.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter further.
A case of domestic violence took a tragic turn when Surekha, a resident of Kukatpally, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital on May 19, 2022. The incident, initially registered under Cr. No: 389/2022 by then Station House Officer P. Narsing Rao under Sections 498-A and 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), was later reclassified to include Sections 302 and 382 IPC following the victim’s death. During the course of investigation, Inspector Rao arrested the accused, Kulbe Santosh, 46, a labourer residing in Khaithlapur, Moosa pet, Kukatpally, and originally from Madargavun Village, Humnabad Taluk, Bidar District, Karnataka. He was subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
Authorities confirmed that all relevant evidence was collected during the investigation, and a charge sheet has been formally submitted to the Hon’ble Court.
During the Trail the Police and Public Prosecutor G.V. Rama Krishna Rao produced the Prosecution witnesses and relevant material evidences, after completion of the trail. M. Venkateshwara Rao, Honorable Judge, III Addl. District and Sessions Judge-Cum-Principal Family Court, Medchal-Malkajgiri District at Kukatpally has pronounced judgment and given conviction as mentioned above to the accused for committed murder to his wife by “STRANGULATION”.
