Secretary Sanjay Jaju Reviews Media Initiatives at Maha Kumbh Mela, Praises Prasar Bharati’s Digital Efforts

Prayagraj, 22nd January 2025 – Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, visited the Mahakumbh Mela on Thursday to assess the media-related initiatives and services being provided by various media units of the Ministry.
During his visit, Shri Jaju observed the multimedia exhibition titled Jan Bhagidari Se Jan Kalyan, which showcases the achievements, programs, policies, and schemes of the Government of India over the last decade. The exhibition, located at the Triveni Marg complex, utilizes advanced technology such as anamorphic displays, LED screens, and holographic cylinders to effectively communicate government initiatives to the public. Shri Jaju commended the exhibition’s user-friendly design, noting that it provides accurate and accessible information to a wide audience.
The Secretary also visited the Media Center set up within the Mahakumbh Mela grounds. He reviewed the facilities available for journalists and engaged with reporters working at their stations. Shri Jaju emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive support to the media covering the event and ensuring smooth operations for journalists.
Further, Shri Jaju toured the temporary centers of Doordarshan and Akashvani in Sector 4, which are broadcasting live coverage of the Mela. He highlighted the role of these platforms in bringing the grandeur of the event to viewers and listeners across various mediums, including television and mobile devices. With the help of multi-camera setups, Doordarshan and Akashvani are offering a detailed and immersive experience of the Mahakumbh Mela.
The Secretary also praised Prasar Bharati’s efforts in establishing the Kumbhvani FM channel, which broadcasts essential information to devotees, as well as its integration with the public address system of the Mela. This initiative has proven beneficial for the thousands of devotees attending the event, ensuring that they stay informed and connected.
In a review meeting with officials from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting working at the Mela, Shri Jaju expressed appreciation for their efforts in ensuring the success of this special Maha Kumbh, which is being held after 144 years. He underscored the significance of the event, both as a spiritual gathering and as a celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage.
Before concluding his visit, Shri Jaju toured the Publications Division’s stall, where he fondly recalled his childhood memories upon seeing the Bal Bharti magazine. He expressed his admiration for the continued publication of this educational resource, which has been a cornerstone of children’s literature in India.
Shri Jaju’s visit reflects the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring seamless media operations at the Mahakumbh Mela, making it accessible to both the local and global audience through various media channels.
