Rachakonda Police Unravels Major Infant Trafficking Ring: 25 Babies Procured and Sold, 10 Rescued, 11 Still Missing
(By Syed Ali Taher Abedi)

In a significant breakthrough in a child trafficking case, the Special Operations Team (SOT-I) of Rachakonda, alongside Chaitanya Puri L&O Police, has successfully apprehended the key members of a notorious inter-state gang involved in the illegal procurement and sale of infants. The arrested accused, Kola Krishnaveni, Deepthi, and Vandana, were taken into police custody, where they confessed to their involvement in the trafficking of more infants, bringing the total number of babies sold to 25. While 4 infants had been rescued earlier, a further 21 were identified, with 10 already rescued, and 11 still awaiting recovery.
Detailed Confessions and Investigations
The investigation into the gang’s activities uncovered that Kola Krishnaveni, Deepthi, and a new suspect, Amulya, had been operating a network of illegal infant procurement and sales, targeting childless couples across the region. During police custody, the accused made shocking confessions about their involvement in trafficking 25 infants. Of these, 10 have been rescued, and 11 others are still in critical need of recovery.

- Kola Krishnaveni admitted to the illegal sale of 3 infants—two boys and one girl, one of whom was rescued.
- Deepthi revealed that she, in collaboration with Amulya, had procured and sold 10 infants—4 boys and 6 girls, of which 4 girls and 1 boy were rescued.
- Amulya, arrested on March 18, 2025, confessed to procuring and selling 8 infants—4 boys and 4 girls. Of these, 3 girls and 1 boy have been rescued.
The authorities have seized 9 mobile phones from the accused, which are currently under examination to uncover further evidence and the identities of additional individuals involved in this trafficking network.
The Role of Amulya in the Trafficking Ring
Amulya, a resident of Malak pet, Hyderabad, had worked as an Asha worker at the UPHC in Azam pura before her arrest. With a background in health services, Amulya had come into contact with key individuals in the trafficking operation, particularly a man named Ismail, who lured her into the illegal trade by promising quick financial gains. Amulya’s first involvement came in 2022 when she assisted in the illegal sale of an infant boy to a childless woman, Kotha Sugunamma. From there, she became increasingly involved in trafficking, forging connections with Kola Krishnaveni and Deepthi, who expanded the operation.
Amulya’s tactics included using social media and networking with individuals from other states to procure infants, which she would then sell to desperate families. As a result of her involvement, she procured and sold a total of 8 infants on her own and another 10 with Deepthi.
The Breakthrough and Ongoing Efforts
The breakthrough in this case came after a detailed investigation by the SOT Malkajgiri team, who worked in collaboration with Chaitanya Puri Police. Using technical analysis, they were able to uncover further illegal activities and identify Amulya as a central figure in the trafficking operation. Through their interrogations, more babies were identified, and several of them were successfully rescued.
Currently, 11 infants remain missing, and special teams have been formed to ensure their swift recovery. Authorities are urging all citizens to report any suspicious activity regarding child adoptions and to follow legal procedures when adopting children.
Appeal to Citizens
The police have issued a stern appeal to citizens, urging them not to fall prey to child trafficking rings by attempting to adopt children through illegal means. Citizens are encouraged to follow the proper legal channels for adoption and to refrain from dealing with mediators or agents involved in such illicit activities.
