The Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone team, and Khairtabad Police Station staff successfully busted an organized prostitution racket operating out of “The Cent Hotel” in Lakdikapul, under Khairtabad PS jurisdiction. Acting on reliable intelligence, the team apprehended two individuals involved in the operation—Kartik Das (29), a stone fitter from West Bengal, and Samir Maity (35), a goldsmith from Midnipur, West Bengal—while rescuing a female victim, Orpa Khan (22), a Bangladeshi national originally from Noida, Delhi.

How the Racket Operated: The prostitution ring was primarily run through online communications, particularly WhatsApp. The brothel organizer would first confirm the customer’s identity to avoid police detection. After confirming the customer, the organizer would send pictures of the women available and finalize the deal, with payments being made via online transactions. Once the payment was confirmed, the organizer would provide the customer with the hotel room details to meet the victim. Direct contact between the customer, victim, and organizer was avoided, with all transactions carried out virtually.

Details of the Bust: Kartik Das, originally from West Bengal, had been living in Hyderabad for several months, working as a stone fitter. He had connected with an agent who organized prostitution in Hyderabad. Two days prior to the raid, he received Orpa Khan from Delhi and booked a room for her at the hotel. He charged customers between 9,000 to 10,000 rupees for each encounter.

On March 24, 2025, customer Samir Maity contacted Kartik through WhatsApp, received a photo of the victim, and agreed on the terms. After making the payment, he went to the hotel and met the victim. The police, acting on a tip-off, raided the premises, arrested both the organizer and the customer, and rescued Orpa Khan.

Victim’s Story: During questioning, Orpa Khan revealed that she had been trafficked from Bangladesh two years ago under the guise of a maidservant job in India. After arriving in West Bengal, agents forged her Aadhar card and other identification documents before handing her over to another agent who trafficked her to Delhi. There, she was coerced into prostitution and trafficked across various locations.

The raid was conducted by the Inspector of Police, Central Zone Task Force, along with the Sub-Inspector and staff from both the Task Force and Khairtabad PS.
