Prophet Remarks Row : Facing Renewed Threats and Strong Criticism Nupur Sharma Knocks Apex Court Again, Same Bench To Hear Plea

Former BJP’s spokesperson Nupur Sharma citing “Renewed Threats” and unexpected strong criticism “on the prophet remarks knocks again the Apex Court seeking halt to her possible arrest and club nine cases filed against her across India over comments on Prophet Mohammed. Her fresh plea will be heard by the same bench- Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Surya Kant that had criticized her on July 1.
Nupur had withdrawn her plea on July, 1 following the critical remarks by vacation bench comprising the same bench.
Earlier Sharma’s writ petition had sought the clubbing of the FIRs registered in the states of Maharashtra, Telangana. West Bengal, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and the Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir with the FIR registered by the Delhi Police.
In her plea seeking to persue her earlier petition, she contended that due to the top court’s remarks against her. She is facing threats to life from fringe elements.
The bench had said that petition “smacks of arrogance that magistrate of the country is too small for her” and added that she should avail alternate remedies than approaching the Supreme Court.
In the miscellaneous application filed to re-open the writ petition, Sharma says that she is receiving rape and date threats after the court’s critical comments. The same bench will hear the matter tomorrow
