NIFT Hyderabad Marks 40th Anniversary with Launch of VisionNXT, India’s First AI And EI-Driven Fashion Forecasting Platform

Hyderabad 22 January,2025 The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Hyderabad, kicked off its 40th-anniversary celebrations on January 22nd, 2025, with an event that highlighted the groundbreaking VisionNxt platform—India’s first AI and EI-driven fashion forecasting initiative. Held at the NIFT Hyderabad campus, the event showcased VisionNxt’s innovative approach, developed under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, to provide cutting-edge research and trend insights for India’s dynamic fashion and retail market.
The event featured a press conference where NIFT Director, Professor Dr. Malini Divakala, along with key faculty members such as Joint Director Professor Dr. Prithviraj Mal, Campus Academic Coordinator Professor Dr. Ram Mohan, Regional Industry Coordinator Professor Dr. K. K. Babu, and Professor Prachi Bajaj, briefed attendees on the VisionNxt project. The conference was followed by a compelling video presentation that highlighted VisionNxt’s advanced features, emphasizing its potential to transform India’s textile industry by reducing reliance on global agencies and harnessing the nation’s strengths in technology, textiles, and cultural craftsmanship.
In addition, a panel discussion titled “Parikalpna – Envisaging Trends in Fashion,” moderated by Professor Jasti Pooja, explored the future of Indian fashion and design, with insights from NIFT Hyderabad alumni Ms. Shruti Rawal, Ms. Sulakshana Chemudupati, and Ms. Divya Karamchedu. The discussion also focused on sustainability in fashion, underscoring its importance for a more responsible future.
