NHRC Mobile App Launched by President Murmu for Easy Complaint Filing and Real Time Tracking

Delhi,10, December,2025-The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India organized a grand function at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi to mark the celebration of Human Rights Day. The occasion was held in solemn commemoration of the historic adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations on this very day in 1948, a landmark that continues to inspire the global movement for dignity, equality, and justice.

The event was graced by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who attended as the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address. The gathering reflected the collective commitment of diverse institutions and stakeholders towards the protection and promotion of human rights in India. Present on the dais were Justice V. Ramasubramanian, Chairperson of NHRC, India, along with Members Justice (Dr.) Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Ms. Vijaya Bharathi Sayani, and Secretary General, Bharat Lal.
On this occasion, the President also formally unveiled the NHRC Mobile App, a significant technological advancement aimed at strengthening the citizen’s right to accessible and timely remedies against human rights violations.

The application enables complainants to file grievances with ease, monitor the status of their complaints in real time, and seamlessly access the Commission’s extensive repository of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.
By placing these tools directly in the hands of the public, the App reinforces procedural transparency, enhances institutional responsiveness, and operationalises the constitutional commitment to protecting human dignity. In addition, two important NHRC publications were released, further enriching the Commission’s efforts to disseminate knowledge and promote a rights-aware society.
Adding to the international dimension of the celebration, Ms. Areti Sianni, UN Resident Coordinator In‑Charge, joined the proceedings. The function also witnessed the participation of Chairpersons and Members of State Human Rights Commissions, distinguished members of the judiciary, senior government officials, diplomats, human rights defenders, and representatives from non‑governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society groups, and the academic community.
