Nalsar Universtiy Celebrates 18 th Annual Convocation

The 18 th annual convocation programme of Nalsar university of law, Hyderabad was hosted on its campus on December 19, 2021. Hon’ble chief justice of India shri N.V,Ramana was the chief guest for this programme. Hon’ble justice shri Satish Chandra Sharma, chief justice of the high court of Telangana was present as the chancellor of Nalsar while shri a. Indra Karan Reddy, hon’ble Minister for environment, law and endowments, government of Telangana was the guest of honour. Several sitting and former judges of the high courts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were also in attendance. As part of the convocation programme, prof. Faizan Mustafa, vice-chancellor, Nalsar presented a report about the university’s activities and accomplishments over the last two years, especially highlighting the steps taken to ensure that the academic calendar did not suffer due to the covid-19 pandemic. The report also mentioned the significant activities undertaken by the various research centres, publications by faculty members and the success achieved by students in various moot court competitions, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) competitions and academic conferences. In his address to the audience, the hon’ble chief justice of India shri N.V. Ramana advised the graduating law students to take up careers in litigation at the district court level, which is where there is a need for competent lawyers to address the huge caseload and the needs of litigants from disadvantaged sections of society. While reflecting on the challenges faced during the four decades of his own career in the legal profession, the hon’ble chief justice of India urged the graduates to face professional and personal challenges with determination and resilience. Above all, he stressed upon the need for basic virtues such as honesty, punctuality and commitment to the ideas of the Indian constitution. In all, 1204 graduates received their degrees and diplomas as part of the convocation programme. Out of these, 197 graduates attended the programme in person while the rest took their credentials in absentia. As many as 49 gold medals were awarded to the graduates from the 2020 batches while 55 gold medals were awarded to the graduates from the 2021 batches. Ms. Priyamvada Shivaji was the topper of the B.A., LL.B. (hons.) 2015-2020 batch while Ms. Avani Agarwal was the topper of the B.A., LL.B. (hons.) 2016-2021 batch. Ms. Maitreyan dixit from the 2015-2020 batch received 8 gold medals while MS. Vishakha Ramesh from the 2016-2021 batch received 10 gold medals. The convocation programme also included the release of several academic journals published by Nalsar and some faculty members were recognized for demonstrating excellence in research. The programme was dissolved after the singing of the national anthem.
