Murder of Kerala Advocate Ranjith Srinivasan: BCI Demands Investigation by Central Agency

The Bar Council of India taking cognizance of the brutal murder of an Advocate Ranjit Srinivas of Alappuzha in Kerala resolved to write a letter to Centre Government for probe of the matter by one Central Agency such as CBI/NIA.
BCI, in its meeting held on 20-12-2021, has resolved to write to the Government of India through Home Ministry demanding the matter to be probed by some Central Agency like NIA or CBI.Only a central agency can find out the truth and the guilty could be punished. The council has strongly condemned the brutal murder.
Mr. Manoj Kumar N, a member from Kerala and also the State Attorney of Kerala, dissented Mr. YR Sadasiva Reddy, a member from Karnataka, suggested investigation by CBI or local police.
The BCI has also demanded an enquiry into the killing of another man namely K.S. Shan of SDPI by the same Central Agency.
The BCI has taken the decision after the Bar Council of Kerala passes a resolution yesterday i.e. 20-12-2021 and some news paper reports stating that Advocate Ranjith Srinivasan, who was a Member of Alappuzha Bar Association, was murdered by the anti-social elements and criminals belonging to SDPI.
BCI, in its resolution also said that the local police has not been able to arrest anybody and as per the view expressed by some Members of State bar Council, the local police is trying give a political colour to the incident and to hush up this serious incident.
The BCI has duly noted that such incident killings of the Advocates in increasing day by day and being representative body of the Advocates, it has been demanding for the proper law to protect the Advocates and their Families.
he Council is to write letter to the Hon’ble Home Minister and the Hon’ble Union Minister for Law and Justice in this regard for getting the occurrence investigated by some Central Agency without any delay. It is to be noted that two Hon’ble Members namely Mr. Manoj Kumar N., who represents the State of Kerala and is State Solicitor for that State has expressed his strong dissent to the said resolution of the Council. Other Member Mr. Y. R. Sadasiva Reddy, who represents the State of Karnataka is agreed for both either by CBI or by the Local Police.
