Hyderabad, May 29, 2025: In a significant breakthrough against illegal arms trade, the (SOT), Maheshwaram Zone, in collaboration with Balapur Police, Rachakonda Commissionerate, has successfully apprehended two individuals involved in illicit firearm trafficking. The accused, Mohammed Zeeshan and Mohammed Ameer, both residents of Rampur City, Uttar Pradesh, were arrested while attempting to transport five country-made firearms (Tapanchas) and 18 live rounds into Hyderabad for sale to anti-social elements.

The Arrest and Seizure

Acting on credible intelligence, law enforcement officers intercepted the suspects near Royal Colony, Balapur at approximately 9:00 AM on May 29. Upon search, officials recovered the illicit arms, preventing their circulation in the black market.

Background of the Accused

Investigations revealed that Mohammed Zeeshan, originally from Rampur City, had migrated to Hyderabad in 2016, where he established himself in the salon business. Despite running multiple shops in Raksha Puram, Golconda, and Balapur, Zeeshan allegedly resorted to criminal activities to sustain a lavish lifestyle. He collaborated with his associate, Mohammed Ameer, who had moved to Hyderabad three years ago and worked at Zeeshan’s salon.

The duo hatched a plan to procure country-made weapons at low prices from Rampur and resell them in Hyderabad for profit. Zeeshan reportedly contacted Arshi Khan, an individual with links to underground firearm manufacturers, who supplied them with five weapons just days before their arrest.

Seized Items

The operation led to the confiscation of:

  • Five country-made Tapanchas
  • Thirteen 8mm live rounds
  • Five 12-gauge shotgun shells
  • Two mobile phones

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation

The arrested individuals have been produced before the Hon’ble Court for judicial remand under Cr. No: 220/2025 U/s 25(1A), 25(1B) (a) of the Arms Act. Authorities continue to probe deeper into their network, tracing possible accomplices and the extent of the illegal arms trade.

The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Sri G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, with strategic guidance from DCP Maheshwaram, Smt. D. Sunitha Reddy, Addl. DCP SOT, Md. Shakir Hussain, and dedicated officers from SOT & Balapur Police.

This crackdown marks a major success in preventing illegal arms trade and reinforces the commitment of Telangana Police in ensuring safety and security across the region.
