In a significant development, the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has announced the appointment of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, as the new Chairman of the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee (SCLSC). This nomination, effective immediately, was made by Hon’ble the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, and was formally published in the Official Gazette on November 12, 2024.
Justice Surya Kant takes over the position from Hon’ble Justice B.R. Gavai, who has recently been nominated as the Executive Chairman of NALSA.
