Justice Shree Chandrashekhar Moves from Rajasthan HC to Bombay HC Following Central Nod

The Central Government on Monday formally notified the transfer of Justice Shree Chandrashekhar from the Rajasthan High Court to the Bombay High Court, acting upon the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium on May 26.
Justice Chandrashekhar’s legal journey began on December 9, 1993, when he enrolled as an Advocate with the Delhi Bar Council. He initiated his practice in the capital, Delhi, handling both civil and criminal matters. Over the course of his 19-year-long advocacy career, he argued in an estimated 3,500 cases before the Supreme Court of India. Notably, his name features in approximately 140 reported Supreme Court judgments, underscoring his distinguished contributions to Indian jurisprudence.
He held pivotal roles during his practice, serving as Standing Counsel for Technical Education and the Government of Jharkhand before the Supreme Court. His legal acumen was also sought by various statutory bodies and public corporations, including the Bihar State Housing Board, Bihar State Pollution Control Board, Jharkhand State Electricity Board, and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. In addition, he represented a number of private corporations and companies.
Justice Chandrashekhar’s transition to the judiciary commenced when he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jharkhand High Court on January 17, 2013. He was elevated to the position of a Permanent Judge on June 27, 2014. His tenure in the Jharkhand High Court reached a significant milestone when he assumed charge as the Acting Chief Justice on December 29, 2023.
Following his transfer to the Rajasthan High Court in July 2024, Justice Chandrashekhar has now been moved to the Bombay High Court in line with the latest order issued by the Central Government. His expertise and vast experience are expected to make a notable impact in his new judicial assignment.
