Hyderabad, April 14:
In a resounding tribute to one of India’s greatest visionaries and the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, the Hon’ble Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, ceremoniously flagged off the “Jai Bhim Padayatra” this morning from the historic Raj Bhavan. The event marked the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, a towering champion of social justice, equality, and democratic values.

Organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Jai Bhim Padayatra is being held simultaneously across all state capitals, echoing a unified national salute to Dr. Ambedkar’s monumental legacy. The Telangana chapter saw an enthusiastic turnout with spirited participation from National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, and Raj Bhavan staff, all marching in solidarity to honour the man who gave India its constitutional backbone.

The padayatra, which began from Raj Bhavan, culminated with a heartfelt floral tribute at the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar at Necklace Road — a symbolic endpoint that underscored the lasting imprint of Ambedkar’s ideas on the heart of the nation.

Earlier in the morning, Governor Varma offered floral respects at Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait inside the Raj Bhavan, reflecting on the indelible contributions of the social reformer whose visionary work laid the foundation for modern India. As the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar’s brilliance and foresight shaped the core democratic principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity that continue to guide the Republic.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor urged today’s youth to imbibe the values that Dr. Ambedkar lived and fought for. “Dr. Ambedkar dedicated his life to building a just and inclusive India. It is our duty to carry his ideals forward, especially the youth, who must become torchbearers of equity, dignity, and progress,” he remarked.

The event was graced by several dignitaries including M. Dana Kishore, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Governor; Col. Sameer Sharma, Deputy Director General, NCC; Venu Kumar, IPS (Retd.), State Secretary, Bharat Scouts & Guides; and officers and staff of Raj Bhavan.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s life and work remain a beacon of hope for millions, especially the marginalized. Today’s Jai Bhim Padayatra served not only as a celebration of his birth anniversary but also as a reaffirmation of India’s commitment to the democratic ideals he so passionately championed.
