Hyderabad vet rape-murder: SC to hear PIL on Wednesday seeking probe

The Supreme Court will be hearing a PIL moved by petitioner GS MANI against the alleged “illegal” encounter in Hyderabad in which Telangana police gunned down 4 rape-murder accused who killed the veterinarian last month.
The petition filed in apex court questions the legality of the encounter.
CJI SA Bobde has agreed to hear the urgent petition on Wednesday.
Whereas the Telangana High Court in this regard had already ordered the authorities to preserve the bodies of the four persons killed in encounter and the Telangana HC is hearing the matter today (Monday).
All the four accused were gunned down by police on Friday morning at Chatanpally when they were taken to the scene of crime.
The petitioners, GS Mani and Pradeep Kumar Yadav, have placed the great reliance on the PUCL case and cited it to urge the court that, in light of Article 21huaranyeeing everyone a right to lead a dignified life, even the state does not have the power to violate it.
After the encounter on Friday, four Tehsildars conducted inquest on the bodies of the accused at the site. Family members of the accused were not brought to the encounter site during the inquest procedure, as thousands of people had gathered there.

The Advocate petitioner said that this was only due to the utter failure of the local police on November 28, 2019, that the victim, a veterinarian Doctor was raped and killed in Telangana.
