Hyderabad Police Sets a New Standard in Public Safety with Launch of CPR Training for 1248 Officers

Hyderabad, January,30, 2025. A four-day CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training program was inaugurated today by Mr. CV Anand, IPS, the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, at the Commissioner’s Office, ICCC Building, Banjara Hills. This initiative aims to enhance the life-saving capabilities of the city’s police force, with 1248 officers set to participate in the second phase of the program.

During the event, Commissioner Anand highlighted the significance of CPR in emergency situations, stressing its vital role in restoring blood and oxygen to vital organs, particularly in cases of cardiac arrest. He expressed gratitude to Mythri Hospital, Mehdipatnam, for training 1409 police personnel in the first phase and underscored the importance of this program not only for police officers but also for the general public. The program’s goal is to ensure that all 16,000 Hyderabad Police personnel are equipped with CPR knowledge, which can be crucial in saving lives during emergencies.

The second phase of the training will be conducted in 15 batches, with each batch receiving 90 minutes of instruction. CPR training is critical, as it can prevent brain death and significantly increase survival chances in cardiac arrest cases. The Commissioner urged the public to embrace CPR awareness, noting that while the procedure is still not widely taught in India, it is mandatory in countries like the USA, Japan, and many European nations.

In his address, Commissioner Anand emphasized the urgency of CPR training, citing alarming global statistics about cardiac arrest deaths, with 1.15 lakh people dying daily worldwide due to heart attacks. He appealed to the hospital authorities to extend this training to all 16,000 police officers in Hyderabad.

Key participants in the event included Mrs. Rakshita Krishna Murthy IPS, DCP CAR Headquarters, Mr. Anoop Jaikumar, CTC Principal, Dr. Mohammad Mohib Hussain and Dr. Mohammad Sadiq Azam from Mythri Hospital, and various police officials.
