Hyderabad Court Sentences 20 Years Rigorous Imprisonment for Accused in Aggravated Sexual Assault Case

Hyderabad,28, January, 2025.In a landmark ruling, the Special Court in Hyderabad has convicted Lingala Deepak, a 32-year-old resident of Secunderabad, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 20,000 for the aggravated sexual assault of a five-year-old girl. The case, registered under Cr.No.195/2024 at Mahankali Police Station, involves charges of sexual assault under Section 376 AB of the IPC and Section 5(m) read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012.
The accused was swiftly apprehended by the police within 24 hours of the incident, a proof to the efficient and timely response of the law enforcement agencies. The investigation, led by Inspector K. Parsuram, resulted in the charge sheet being filed in SCPC No. 14/2024. Following a thorough trial, the Honorable Special Sessions Judge for POCSO Act cases, Smt. B. Pushpalatha, found the accused guilty and delivered the conviction on January 28, 2025.
In addition to the conviction, the court announced a compensation of Rs. 5.00 Lakhs to the victim as part of the court’s efforts to support the child’s recovery and welfare.
The prosecution was led by Sri K. Prathap Reddy, Additional Public Prosecutor, with the support of a dedicated team that ensured justice for the victim. This team included Legal Support Officer Smt. T. Kalpana, Liaising Officer Smt. Uma from the Bharosa Unit, and CDOs Sri J. Sai Kumar and Sri Vamshi Krishna, among others.
This conviction serves as a stark reminder of the judiciary and law enforcement’s firm commitment to protecting vulnerable children and taking strict action against crimes that target them. The ruling emphasizes the seriousness with which child abuse cases are handled and sends a strong message to society about safeguarding the rights and safety of children.
