In preparation for the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament, a meeting was held today with Floor Leaders of all political parties under the chairmanship of Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of Defence. The session, scheduled to begin on November 25, 2024, will run for 26 days with 19 sittings, covering a range of legislative and financial matters. Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, emphasized the importance of cooperation from all party leaders to ensure smooth functioning in both Houses. He also informed that there would be no parliamentary sitting on November 26, 2024, due to the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India.
The key highlight of the upcoming yearlong celebrations will be a central function on Constitution Day, November 26, 2024, at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, New Delhi. The event will feature the release of a commemorative coin and stamp, as well as the unveiling of books on the making of the Constitution. In addition, the event will include a global mass reading of the Preamble, urging citizens to take an active role in strengthening democracy.
The commemorations will be centered around four main themes: the Preamble, understanding the Constitution, the journey of its creation, and celebrating its significance. These activities will continue throughout the year, engaging citizens across the country and promoting awareness of the Constitution’s core values.
