Global Recognition for Hyderabad: Police Chief C.V. Anand Awarded for Outstanding Anti-Narcotics Strategy at World Police Summit 2025

16, May,2025- Hyderabad Police Commissioner Sri C.V. Anand IPS, representing the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), has secured the prestigious first position for “Excellence in Anti-Narcotics” at the esteemed World Police Summit (WPS) 2025, hosted by the Dubai Police from May 13 to May 16.
This distinguished international accolade recognizes the Hyderabad City Police’s proactive approach to combating drug trafficking and consumption, alongside impactful awareness programs targeting students and the broader community within the Commissionerate limits. Over the past three years, their strategic initiatives and innovative enforcement practices have yielded significant results in the fight against narcotics.

The grand award ceremony took place today at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Dubai, UAE, where Sri C.V. Anand received the prestigious honour from the World Police Summit Committee. Addressing the gathering, he expressed his delight that Hyderabad Police had triumphed over elite law enforcement agencies from 138 participating countries, reinforcing their position as a global leader in anti-narcotics operations.
Acknowledging his team’s dedication and tireless efforts, the Commissioner emphasized that this historic achievement is a moment of pride not only for the Telangana Police but for India’s entire law enforcement community. He credited the innovative work practices and a multi-faceted approach adopted by H-NEW as key factors behind their success in tackling narcotics-related issues.
The event also witnessed the recognition of 12 outstanding police officers and innovators from 12 countries, who were awarded the top honour in various law enforcement categories.
In a panel discussion preceding the awards ceremony, Mr. Anand shed light on India’s evolving drug challenges post-COVID, detailing the various channels through which narcotics infiltrate the country, the successful crackdowns on gangs and peddlers, and the critical role of anti-drug committees within educational institutions. He also emphasized rehabilitation measures and community engagement efforts, reinforcing Hyderabad’s commitment to a drug-free future.
With this global recognition, Hyderabad Police has once again solidified its reputation for excellence in law enforcement and innovative anti-narcotics strategies—setting a benchmark for police forces worldwide.
