GHMC Officials Should Rise to the Occasion in Discharging Their Duties, Situation is Alarming Due to COVID-19 Spike, Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar Held High Level Meeting

All the GHMC officials should rise to the occasion in discharging their duties keeping view of the present situation, surge in Covid-19 cases in the city said the principal secretary to MA & amp; UD Sri. Arvind Kumar here today. Principal Secretary held a review meeting with the Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Asst. Medical Officers and said Hon’ble Minister Sri.K. Taraka Rama Rao, reviewed the special sanitation drive and he is very particular in lift garbage on regular basis as the coming season is Monsoon and there is chance of spread of diseases. 

The principal secretary directed officials to clear the heaps of garbage accumulated in many parts of the city immediately.  

Principal Secretary directed the ZCs and DCs to talk with the RMO/ Superintendents of Osmania, Nims, Gandhi Hospital, Fever Hospitals, Koti hospital and other Major private hospitals and find out the methods they are adopting in lifting garbage and disposal Bio-medical waste and masks.  

Further, he directed to Deputy Commissioners to issue written orders to the ACPs, EEs and AMCs duly earmarking their areas and it is their responsibility to ensure that the garbage is lifted from time to time

as prescribed. All the officers should be on field in early morning at 5 AM to ensure the garbage is lifted regularly.  

The ZCs and DCs shall take decision on procurement of additional vehicles as per them requirement.  These officials should check the whether all vehicles and staff are coming in time or not. 

Any dereliction in discharging of duties will be viewed seriously and stringent action will be initiated against officials concerned since, the situation alarming and as well as connected with the lives of the people.

The DCs should ground the plan of action within 2-3 days and the Principal Secretary himself will be in field in the early morning and inspect the operations.   GHMC Corona Control Room:

A nodal officer and a team to set up, so that enquires related to garbage and disposal of bodies is properly guided to the nearest point to which area and officer concerned. 

To guide the Hospital managements on disposal of bio-medical waste as per norms.  

Earlier, Commissioner, GHMC said there are about 310 big heaps of garbage and 700 mediums ones in the city and it should be lifted on war footing basis.

The present 395 vehicles used for lifting should be streamlined and they should lift the garbage 3 times a day i.e., Morning between 6-7/, afternoon 11-12, and evening 6-7.  Further, the Commissioner instructed the officials to supply plastic bags to the

sanitation staff so that while sweeping the garbage is kept in plastic bags so that it placed in the vehicle as soon as it arrives thus save lot of time and also it enables the vehicles used to its optimum use and also improves in efficiency in clearing garbage.

The EVMD and Entomology wing ensure proper disinfectant chemical is done at vulnerable points.

Till now 320 Swachh Autos arrived and distributed to the respective circles as per their requirements and rest will arrive in a phased manner.
