Former Judge of the Supreme Court Justice Surender Singh Nijjar Passed away. He was 71 years old. Shri Justice Surinder Singh Nijjar, LL. B, Bar-at-Law,was born on June 7, 1949. He was enrolled as an Advocate on April 28, 1977 and as Senior Advocate in November, 1989. He practised mainly in Constitutional, Service, Labour, Civil and Criminal matters. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on April 8, 1996 and transferred to the Bombay High Court on April 26, 1996. He was appointed as a permanent Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court on April 5, 1998. He was transferred back to the Punjab & Haryana High Court on August 7, 2000. He was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court on March 7, 2007. He was appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on November 17, 2009. Retired on June 6, 2014.
