Former Delhi High Court Chief Justice Gokul Chand Mittal Passes Away at 92

Former Chief Justice of Delhi and Rajasthan High Courts, Justice Gokul Chand Mittal, has passed away at the age of 92. His family announced the news through the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association.
Justice Mittal was born on March 4, 1933, and enrolled as an advocate in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 1956, primarily practicing civil law. He was appointed as an additional judge in February 1979 and became a permanent judge in June 1982.
In August 1991, he was elevated to the position of Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. He was later transferred to the Rajasthan High Court in April 1994, where he served until his retirement in March 1995.
His last rites will take place at the Electric Crematorium in Sector 25, Chandigarh, on June 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The legal fraternity mourns his passing, remembering his contributions to the judiciary.
