Five Years Rigorous Imprisonment to Then Chief Office Superintendent of Railways in A Bribery Case

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ahmedabad (Gujarat) has sentenced Shri Ashok Prabhulal Barot, then Chief Office Superintendent working in the office of Divisional Railway Manager, Pratapnagar, Vadodara to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 20,000/- in a bribery case.
CBl had registered a case on 16.02.2015 against Shri Ashok Prabhulal Barot, Chief Office Superintendent, Accounts Section, working in office of the Divisional Railway Manager, Pratapnagar, Vadodara (Gujarat). It was alleged that accused demanded an illegal gratification of Rs,5250/- from Complainant for showing him favour in three different matters. It was further alleged that the accused also informed the complainant that his security deposit of around Rs.4.60 lakh for the tender work would not be released, if bribe was not paid. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 5000/- from the Complainant.
After investigation, Charge-sheet was filed against the accused on 25.06.2015. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
