EX-Chief Justice of Allahabad HC Terms Rajasthan CM Gehlot’s Remarks Against Judiciary as Immoderate
(Judicial Quest News Network)
In a significant development Ex-Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court Justice Govind Mathur has strongly condemned the remarks made by Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot against Indian Judiciary.
Gehlot had said that whatever is happening in the judiciary whether lower or Upper, the situation is very serious.
Justice Govind Mathur said that this is a serious issue and absolutely unwarranted assault has been made on a premier consultation body.
The statement of Shri Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister, Rajasthan about alleged corruption in Judiciary is not only irresponsible but objectionable also. Chief Minister must understand that our judiciary is one amongst the three important wings of our constitutnal apparatus and the people of India have great faith in it. No effort should have been made to cause injuries to our judiciary by making casual and irresponsible statements. This is a serious issue where absolutely unwarranted assault has been made on a Premier constitutnal body.
If CM has any evidence, he should have first discussed the matter with Chief Justice with all the material he is having.
I would like to ask the Chief Minister, if he has spoken to Chief Justice Rajasthan before giving such damaging statement? The
Chief Minister, in my opinion is in clear contempt of lowering the authority of judiciary in the estimation of general public.
The Chief Justice of Rajasthan must call the Advocate General in Court and seek an explanation from the Government, or constitute a Committee of Senior Judges to make enquiries and submit report. In such enquiry the AG and Law Secretary should be asked to appear and place the material that is the basis of such statement.
