The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in Hyderabad has filed a Prosecution Complaint (PC) before the Hon’ble Special Court (PMLA) in Nampally against Kesari Sathish, a Department of Posts employee, and co-accused Duvva Veeresh Kumar. The Hon’ble Court took cognizance of the complaint on August 31, 2024.
The ED’s action follows an investigation based on an FIR lodged by the CBI Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad. The FIR, prompted by a complaint from the Superintendent of Post Offices, Warangal Division, alleges that Kesari Sathish, serving as Sub-Post Master at SPO-Kodakandla, Telangana, embezzled Rs. 1.72 Crore during his tenure from April 19, 2021, to May 17, 2022. Sathish is accused of making fraudulent entries in the SAP software system on non-working days to misappropriate government funds.
The investigation revealed that Sathish deposited the embezzled funds into his post office savings account or handed over cash to acquaintances, who then transferred funds to him. The illicit proceeds were reportedly used for online gambling, personal loans, and various other expenses.
Efforts to conceal the embezzled funds included transferring a land parcel, valued at Rs. 3.26 Lakh, to his relative, Duvva Veeresh Kumar, without any sale consideration. This property was initially provisionally attached under PMLA provisions, and the attachment has now been confirmed by the Hon’ble Adjudicating Authority (PMLA), New Delhi.
The case underscores the ED’s commitment to addressing financial crimes and holding individuals accountable for corruption and asset misappropriation. Further developments will follow as the investigation progresses.
