Dental doctors have filed a writ petition in Supreme Court on Wednesday under Article 32, who are NEET-MDS aspirants, challenging the unjust and infinite delay caused by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) in announcement of the counselling schedule for NEET-MDS 2021.
The plea filed through Advocates Charu Mathur and Tanvi Dubey has sought directions to MCC to conduct a separate counselling for the NEET-MDS2021 and not wait for NEET-PG counselling, to committee with NEET-MDS2021 counselling.
The petitioners have challenged the ‘unjust’ and infinite delay’ caused by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) in announcement of the schedule for NEET-MDS 2021.
It is submitted that the counselling for the NEET-MDS usually commences in March every year. However, this year, even after six months of declaration of the results, there is no update regarding the counselling schedule.
it is pertinent to note that the delay caused in the counselling is
creating uncertainty amongst the candidates and they are losing on their precious time, on a daily basis.
Even if a candidate who has scored exceptionally well in the examination, is surrounded with a cloud of uncertainty and despite his exceptional performance has yet not been allocated a seat.
The uncertainty caused to the candidates is in absence of any notice from respondent no. 1 and is costing heavily on their mental health. it is most respectfully submitted that in an event the counselling for NEET-PG and NEET-MDs is to be held together, when NEET-PG is decided not to be conducted at least until 31.08.2021 with a direction of further one month notice to the candidates to prepare, will hamper the interest of the NEET-PG candidates, who are waiting since 31.12.2020, for announcement of the counselling date.
