Delhi-Haridwar Hate Speech Row: SC Lawyers Writes to CJI NV Ramana Seeking Suo Moto Action Against Call Given For Genocide of Muslims

In a significant development 76 Lawyers of Supreme Court have writhe to the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana for taking Suo moto action against alleged hate speech calling for the genocide against Muslims of the country.
High-lighting the two separate events organised in Delhi (by the Hindu Yuva Vahini) and Haridwar (by Yati Narsinghananad) on 17th and 19th December,2021, wherein hate speeches consisting of open calls given for genocide of Muslims in order to achieve ethnic cleansing were made.
The 76 Practising Lawyers of the Supreme Court have urged the Chief Justice of Indian Justice NV Ramana to take suo moto cognizance of the same and issue directions for taking action against the guilty persons under Sections 120B,121A,124A, 153A,153B,295A and 298 of the Indian Penal Code, 1850 has also been made.
The letter further calls for action against two separate speeches made by following persons

- Sagar Sindhu Maharaj
- Dharam Das Maharaj
- Premanand maharaj
- Sadhvi Annapooma alias Pooja Shakun Pandey
- Swami Anand Swaroop
- Ashwini Upadhyay
- Sures Chauhanke
- Swamy Prabodhanand Giri
The letter states that “the aforementioned event and the speeches delivered during the same are not hate speeches but amount to an open call for murder of an entire community.
The said speeches thus, pose a grave threat not just to the unity and integrity of our country but also endanger the lives of millions of Muslim citizens.
letter thus, seeks urgent judicial intervention to prevent such events that seem to have become the order of the day. We have also been informed that in this regard a few Petitions under Article 32 of the Constitution of India are also pending for consideration before the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
